Has anyone had their NDX upgraded?
Posted by: Slioch on 23 November 2011
Any opinions (beyond the 24/192 support)? Improvement/same/whatever?
I bought mine after the middle of the year so - if I read the announcement correctly I should be able to get this done gratis before the end of December. I did call my local dealer (UK) but they seem to still be waiting for info from Naim? So I was wondering whether it was worth pursuing?
Last was in touch with HQ on Friday. Should have an answer this week.
This all seems highly confusing.
Surely, if the upgrade is being done by the dealer they can charge what they like for the work unless Naim has fixed a price? (Which would be highly dubious.)
If the dealer does not have the expertise and has to send back to Naim for the work, then it's a fixed price (excluding shipping).
Waiting for boards/delays in shipping/lack of manpower etc, etc. don't come into this equation.
There seems to be a serious lack of communication here.

OK, I have the details from Naim.
For early NDX owners who wish to upgrade to the 24bit/192kHz streaming board the cost will be:
A) If you or your dealer return unit to the Naim factory for board change, fitting, firmware update: £200 +VAT & carriage
B) If your dealer is able to fit the board and update firmware themselves then you are looking at £125 + VAT plus any labour & carriage costs your dealer may charge you.
Any units purchased after the beginning of July 2011 will be updated for free, however this offer is open only until 29th February 2012. Normal charges will apply thereafter.
This is for the UK so overseas pricing may vary slightly but you should check with your distributor for details.
I shall be posting a sticky later to include Uniti update details as well.
Thanks for the update and clarification Richard. Much appreciated.

Yes, thanks very much, Richard.

Anyone peeked inside an upgraded NDX unit or ND5 XS?
I have a dilemma with:
(Yes, I've contacted support, but Naim staff is still on holidays )
