Do you play a lot of music via USB on the nDAC?

I own only 4 HD "albums" and to get started I put them all on a single usb stick. If I want to listen to the last, I have to skip through, track by track, to get there. Am I missing a shortcut?
If not -- how do you organize your hd music? Just a few albums per stick? Or load the stick immediately prior to listening and don't try to store files on sticks permanently?
Slowhand and Hotel California sound pretty good in HD
I have a similar ish set up. I think your understanding of USB sticks into the nDAC is correct, in other words very limited in terms of navigation.
One question though - if you have a Unitiserve, why don't you stick the USB stick into the back of the Unitiserve instead ? It will then integrate the music into the U/S library.
Cheers, Paul
This is what I do with the HDX. I have compared albums played from USB straight into the nDAC, with played from USB into the HDX. I could not hear a difference. Don't know if you can do it in nStream - on the HDX and in nServe you can choose the location from which to play, which allows you to see only what is on the stick.

Paul I have owned the uServe for two months and did not realize I could do this. THANK YOU, and cheers!
The one use I had for the USB slot on the DAC was to play Internet radio from my iPhone. But since the Uniitiserve has been upgraded to include Internet radio, I don't use it at all.
I am searching for some Naim-coloured masking tape to cover it ! ( only joking).
Enjoy the music, Paul
Paul, others,
I have re-reviewed the UServe manual and find no instructions about using a usb stick in the rear usb port to integrate files into the uServe store. Can anyone elaborate? Can I monitor this or control it via the n-Serve iPhone app, or otherwise? I tried it tonite . . . put a usb drive into the rear panel port and nothing happened.
TIA,
Bart
The US doesn't seem to instantly recognize a new device, like a PC or Mac would, but it will find it in time. So suggest to tell it to do a rescan. Or alternatively just reboot it. It works really well, the USB music, whether HiRes or not is simply integrated into the overall library. Or alternatively you can scan by device, eg USB stick.
I have read one or two posts reporting problems with specific USB sticks, but I have never had a problem. Good luck....paul
Paul I am getting closer. Using the web browser, I can find the usb music on the stick plugged into the back of the uServe, and play it from the web browser app. It's not intuitive but I finally figured that much out.
Can I add these files to the internal hard drive? If so, I still can't figure out how.
Also so far I can't figure out how to see and play these same files via the iPhone app.
Thanks for your help and patience; hopefully this will help other uServe owners too!
Well I answered some of my own questions.
A proper usb stick in the back of the UServe results in the usb stick showing up as a "device" in the n-Serve app. Selecting that device displays the library of music on the usb stick, and does seem to integrate it into the VIEW of the entire library (internal hard disc store + usb contents). However, there still appears to be no way to actually copy the contents of the usb stick onto the uServe internal hdd.
However, until I spend the money for a NAS, this does give me a semi-satisfactory way to listen to my flac music -- copying a bunch to a usb stick.
I am pretty sure that you can't copy the music from the USB to the US hard disk, the hard disk being solely to store CD quality music which has been ripped by the US.
For now i just store all my HiRes music on a USB stick, 32 GB give me about 15-20 albums worth. The US also has 4 USB slots, so for the time being I will just keep adding USB sticks until I get all my music stored on a NAS.
Cheers, paul
