autotagging software

Posted by: balma01 on 28 November 2011

I'm thinking to build an unattended/headless ripping/streaming box.  I think to use a windows pc with asset upnp server, and Itunes to rip in ALAC format (I need it to syncronize my Ipod). I just need something to automatically tag my files. I've found blisshq (thanks to Tog) and I will evaluate it asap, does anybody know some alternative auto tagging SW to compare with bliss?

Thanks in advance MB

dBPowerAmp (same company as Asset) can do batch tagging

Manu,

I have never gotten db to do more than tag from filename....is there something else?

J River can tag files already ripped.....not perfect but it can do it.

What isn't perfect about it.  I cant find its equal.

I agree, I can't find its equal either. However, I have had it make some errors in tagging here and there. However, much happier with it than without!

Try MediaMonkey. By far the best solution on Windows.

I've tested blisshq for some days and it'is very powerful, easy to use, and really automatic: you can install it as a windows service and forget it, every time it find a new file into the music library, it updates the tags and the artwork.

I did not test the sw you suggested but looking at the jriver and mediamonkey sites, I see that they do too many thinghs, I just need a tagger. About the dbpoweramp batch tagging, it's a batch to run, not an unattended service (i think).

Thanks again.

I have used Bliss on both Mac and Linux (Vortexbox) doing just that - drop a folder of music into the library on VB -set Bliss to reorganise to your plan and find artwork and job done.
