The 2012 F1 Championship thread.

Posted by: Tony Lockhart on 30 November 2011

Well, once Christmas is out of the way and we've all broken our resolutions, some of us will be counting the days til the first race. Will Bahrain be peaceful enough? Will Austin Tx have sorted itself out?

How many teams will decide they can't compete against Red Bull and concentrate on developing 2013's turbo 1.6 litre V6 engine?

Are there any rule changes for next year worth knowing about?

Every likely hood that vetted will get a podium, with alonso winning, and hammi the meat of the sandwich

Spot on tony. I know many people don't get F1, but when you've been to the actual races and experienced it first hand, it is another world.

Went to silver stone a couple of weeks ago and had a track day driving Ferrari 360 and Aston vantage. The speed on the track is mind blowing and cannot be compared to any speed on normal roads.

Really makes you have respect for these guys and what they achieve

Well done Kimi!

Great to see Kimi up there again, but Blimey I'm exhausted after watching that race. Especially from repeatedly laughing at Webber.

Kimi swearing on the podium chat with 'Bad trousers' Coulthard. Priceless.

Great race this weekend!

This is sweet. To be honest I did not expect that Kimi could win this year.

People ask why I like F1 , just watch a re-run of this race.

Unfortunately Seb got an advantage by being allowed to start from the pit lane. He would have got points with the setup he had for qualli, but changing his gearbox, the ratios within and wing settings gave him a lot over the other cars running different specs.

Unlucky for Hamilton, just how McLaren manage these foul ups is truly staggering

"The BBC received 22 calls (21 complaints and one comment) about the swearing and 30 calls (28 complaints and two comments) about the delay in making the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix available on the iPlayer on-demand service for the swearing to be removed."

Come on BBC, you must do better. You must please all of the people all of the time, you are a public service after all.  And sort that Savile fella out as well while you're about it. And what about World peace..! It's all your fault. Pull your socks up.

I just wish the Beeb would show a professionally edited 'highlights' programme instead of the cheap and nasty shortened version of the incompetently directed live programme.

But hey, it's a painful programme anyway. And I can't have Sky, thankfully.

F1 - Look away now if you don't want to know who's  cheated! That's what I call team work. Did Massa help Alonso keep his hopes? Usual politics in F1... down to the wire.

Just look at that another boring F1 race eh? Superb stuff well done all.

Visually it was superb. The camera work was the best I've seem IMO. Managed to convey the immense speed these cars travel at. Not sure how it was done, but the cameras seemed to be positioned higher than normal and the tracking from the helicopter was top notch.

+1

agreed, a really enjoyable event. plenty of overtaking for a change.

Good to see Hammy manage without any reliability issues and get to the front.

All down to the last race, what's the odds on Olonso winning it at the end?

Will Vettel use the old Schumacher tactic and take Olonso out on a slow corner?

....and Prost , Senna tactic also, Schumy only 50% successful though.

Some one swap Vettall's and Weber's cars over?

Helicopter pilot deserves a medal, great work to allow for some stunning pictures well done.
