The 2012 F1 Championship thread.

Posted by: Tony Lockhart on 30 November 2011

Well, once Christmas is out of the way and we've all broken our resolutions, some of us will be counting the days til the first race. Will Bahrain be peaceful enough? Will Austin Tx have sorted itself out?

How many teams will decide they can't compete against Red Bull and concentrate on developing 2013's turbo 1.6 litre V6 engine?

Are there any rule changes for next year worth knowing about?

Will Vettel use the old Schumacher tactic and take Olonso out on a slow corner?

....and Prost , Senna tactic also, Schumy only 50% successful though.

Some one swap Vettall's and Weber's cars over?

Helicopter pilot deserves a medal, great work to allow for some stunning pictures well done.

must be all that black hawk training!!

Thank-you USA (well Austin, Texas anyway).

A modern track that looks like a classic old-school venue with elevation and flowing curves. Note to all the new-school soulless venues like Blingabore - if you get the circuit right it doesn't matter that there is no flashy skyline in the backdrop or that pitlane exits through a tunnel (useless for spectators).

Within 5 minutes of watching I could tell where the cars were on track unlike the previously mentioned Blingabore where they even had to resort to painting the concrete walls different colours for the 3 track segements and even that didn't make any difference - concrete walls don't make interesting racing in the daytime and at night they might as well be in an underground car park.

Pretty good race as well although possibly the newness of the track surface contributed and it will be interesting to see if it works the same next year. But I'd pay to go there, it works for me.

Cheers

Scott

Cbr600 - Any reason for spelling Alonso as Olonso  ?

Adrian Newey doesn't design his cars to be aerodynamic, the air designs itself to be "Neweydynamic.”

Well, Brazil has arrived.

Roll on Q1----and the rain?

Posted on: 24 November 2012 by Cbr600

Mcclaren 1-2 for race

Well done Hammi

Exciting stuff so far!

Unlucky Hammie, well done to vettel and red bull.

Really thought alonso would clinch it at the end.

The rain master succeeds again on the day, another wet win to button

I'm sorry no congratulations from me, like Schumi before him the powers to be seem unable to see Germans. Vettlel takes out Senna and then later overtakes under yellow, penalties? Not on your life. So once again Germans win on penalties or lack of them.

Well done Jenson and to the real world champion Pedro.

I have never been a Ferrari supporter , but hope they take this to the stewards.

Very exciting race. Shame for Lewis, pleased for JB and glad that Vettel won overall - he deserved to I think.

(And he's a huge vinyl record fan I believe.)

It seems that it's hard to win the drivers championship with Ferrari. Only two men has managed to do it since 70's.

Aha, now I understand why the race engineers told him to "keep on the black stuff"

Biggie, you might wanna use that rewind button on your remote again or clean your glasses... It's clear cut, clearer than crystal clear....

Alonso's not the sharpest knife in the draw. In the latter stages the only way he could become world champion was if Seb had an incident, something like a puncture caused by debris.

Why did he complain about the debris.

Why didn't Massa drive into Vettel?! Accidently.

Thats a skill that's reserved for German drivers, the retiring kind !

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by JamieWednesday

And Brazilian too...'cept Snr S. didn't even pretend that one was an accident.

Well it wouldn't have been the first time a team mate of Alonso had caused a crash accidentally on purpose for the benefit of Alonso.

Think back the the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

And no Germans involved.

What Senna on the inside line and Vettel OVERTAKING and cuts across , where was Senna gonna go vertically?

+1 for using the rewind button.

Seb wasn't overtaking Senna, he was 3 car lengths ahead of Senna entering the breaking zone. Senna came into the bend far to hot and collided with Seb, who was taking the racing line.
