What Albums Have A Special Place In your Heart?
Posted by: Gale 401 on 30 November 2011
I have a few, that over the years have played a big part in my life.
Getting me through hard times and Good times.
This is one.
Bought these two albums on vinyl on the same day. They remain the best day of record purchasing ever! Thomas Dolby (The Golden Age of Wireless was the first album that spoke to me) - a production genius and Paddy is a singular songwriter of few equals. Talk Talk - ignoring the weak (but necessary) first album, are unique in their vision and no compromise stance. Fantastic!
This record always brings back happy memories
This is also in my top five, and has a very special place in my heart.
It took 15 years for me to learn how to play Downstream on the Piano
Took a boat on Sunday.

My abiding memory is around The Story of the Who (I cannot find a picture so Who's Next will have to do) and the TV advert with the exploding pin-ball machine. I was introduced to The Who post the Tommy era, along with the likes of 'Quo (On the Level stage). The latter didn't stand a chance once I'd heard the far more expansive rock and energy produced by others (>3 chords). School mates were all in to Genesis (never have 'got' them!).
After the above, for some unknown reason, I went all E.L.O. for a while - madness in hindsight.
The years may be a bit mixed up in the above (age!). Listening to Slip Kid and Magic Bus played via an Ultra record player was bliss (and it helped drown out the traffic noise from a busy road).
I think the visitors to the doctor's surgery adjoining my house must have been left in no doubt next door was a 'teenage wasteland'!
HAPPY DAYS...
When I brought one of these talk talk lp's cannot remember which one, it was so different from what they were doing, I shelved for years. Eventually I pulled it out and fell in love. I have been obsessively buying copies (Vinyl), currently have 5 of spirit of Eden.
Simple, for me. Queen II.
My 1st every proper 'rock' record purchase, on good old vinyl. Well, there wasn't anything else.
Recently bought the CD & was amused to find that lots of the odd noises on it, which I had previously blamed the LP for, are there on the CD...!!
On the strength of this recording, I thought there would be worth seeing live. And so indeed it was. My 1st every concert. Awesome - and extremely loud. OK, I was right at the front....
I had to walk to get the bus home - with a odd ringing noise still in my ears....
Well there are several album which are very special to me but Death Cab for cutie stand out from the rest.
Mold Remediation South Florida
Stones - Exile; Keith Jarrett - Koln concert; Neil Young - Goldrush; and eponymous Dire Straits and the Smiths.
All with different people, different times but good times.

The greatest Rock album..... Long live AC/DC
