And any glimmer of light as regards the remasters on vinyl?

Hit the main Beatles site now.

They have a  45rpm  vinyl singles box set that went on sale this week.

Straw Berry Fields Anna box set.

It aint cheap though.

But not over the top.

How about, "How may I help my fellow board members who aren't as fantastically well informed as Stu but may have some interest in buying some of these fabulous albums at a knock down price."

Hi Stu,

I must have "no brain" as I can't see it?

;-)

All the best,

The mono box set was £120 in Zavvi's mega-Monday offers last week. Back up to £180 now but may be worth keeping an eye on. That's the cheapest I've seen it, apart from dodgy ones on eBay.

Thanks for the heads-up, TomK.

TomK,

Thats for the CD versions?

As I am still hoping for that elusive vinyl set. I am thinking the vinyl set has ben put oh hold for some reason as the silence is deafening.

Maybe I can ask Paul when I see him in Manchester in a couple of weeks?

If only......

4 singles?!  Are you Fu$@in' kidding me?!!!  Seems like such a tease, when all along we have been patiently waiting for the vinyl remasters . . . the complete remasters.

Okay, so I asked for this as a Christmas present, and have to say it's really nice to have Beatles 45's back in the collection. . . something very right about it.

But what I really want to report is Revolution . . . . besides the joy of once again hearing this great single, how astonishing the guitar is!    Sounds as if plugged directly into the hifi.  The tone is magic! Crunchy, distorted, over driven, distortion deluxe, for lack of better description!

I'm no guitar player, but think that best describes what is happening.  And this is one rockin' great song . . . essential listening IMHO.

Have you seen the return of the pre-order for the Red & Blue albums on Amazon?

I re-placed my order for both a week or so ago....

but changed my mind and cancelled cos i think £36.74 each is just too expensive.

If i knew for sure the pressings would be absolutly fabulous and SQ'ed to perfection, i may reconsider

But don't feel lucky with brand new modern vinyl, and at the price i feel suckered.

Hi Debs,

Yeah I saw the Red and Blue pre-order but still hanging in there for the full set.

Shame as I forgot to ask Paul when I saw him in Manchester the other week.....but there again there were a few others folks there!

Debs

I think you did the right thing.  However, I must admit that with most pop records, surface noise is not really an issue with me.  I find the good decks ride over the noise quite well and the volume saturation tends to cancel out the distraction.  If you can listen to late romantic classical on lp, you can deal with most anything.  Also, not to be unnecessarily negative,  but what I've heard of the sound of the new Beatles remasters has not inspired me to indulge in the new offerings.
