Ignore prefixes when sorting by artist

Posted by: Klout10 on 07 December 2011

A couple of months ago, I've posted my wish for an "Ignore prefixes when sorting by artist" option for the HDX. I like that, for instance, The Who show up under "W" rather than "T" without having to change the tag to just "Who, The".

Even my iPod can do this!

Any idea's if this will be implemented in the HDX/n-Serve in the near future?

Regards,

Michel

I have more records by bands beginning with T than any other letter

@Guy - Vortexbox certainly loves those prefixes but I suppose I should be more careful with tagging - Beatles, the for example. Interesting Logitech Media Server is far better at avoiding the problem. Mind you I moved house yesterday and have absolutely no idea which box or indeed room my TogServe is actually sitting inside. I like the "The", and The The for that matter.  I dont like The, The though.

Who, The is just silly.  I know where to find THE Who or THE Cure, or Pixies (no the).  It isn't hard to remember the name of a band.

Okay, I guess I'm the only one complaining ...

I guess I'm ambivalent at best.  Who, The  and Beatles, The  under W and B, respectively, would be OK with me if displayed in the Artists list.  In the 'now playing' display it would have to be displayed as The Who of course to avoid being really silly!  'Til something changes, I know to look under the T's.

Yes perhaps confusion when searching for "The The" (IMO, an excellent band b.t.w.); but otherwise, what is the fuss? You want (The) Cure? Just search on "Cure". Not that hard, is it?
