We don't want to go there. Madness on this forum lies ahead.
I happen to be an enthusiast for Physics, and even got a respectable grade at A-Level in the subject along with Maths and Electronics. But at that level we did not even scratch the surface of Quantum Theory, and really we were all [except one, not me] completely bemused by it.
Our Physics teacher was a fantastic explainer, but even he failed with Quantum Theory. He explained what it said, but not really what it meant! But his wise words were that it was "the best explanation yet," and that it was crucial for electronics in particular, so we might just as well accept it, and happily employ what it predicts.
I have the chance to listen to Brian Cox on Radio Four, though I have seen his television programmes. If Britain is to keep up to speed in technological developments - things crucial to the success of our country and more importantly ways to continue to support a massive human population throughout the world - then Physics needs to be popularised, and hopefully very bright young people will be fascinated with the subject and make the future discoveries necessary for human survival.
If Brain Cox can help to create interest in the subject then I am all for his popularising approach. Physicists are not normlly great communicators.
