HDX Problem.

Posted by: JB76 on 26 December 2011

My HDX seems to be stuck on the start up screen (Starting...) I've tried powering down then up again but no joy. Any advice or is this broken?

Your should try powering down and unplugging for 10 minutes then try again. Who knows could work.

Are you able to connect to the HDX from your browser or Desktp Client?

If yes,

Try to power up with no network cable. It will take about 5 min to serch for a network, but it will time out and continue to boot. It will then defeat to HDPC. replug the cable and start again.

Do you have the latest firmware? it should be 1.6A: System Status, Overall Version?

Latest firmware version must be 1.6b since the iRadio update....

Sorry I cannot be of any more help...

Thanks Manu and also Keith from Infidelity. Unplugging the ethernet port and powering up again seemed to do the trick.

Just moved house and still getting things sorted! System software is up to date FYI.

Happy Xmas all.

My HDX sometimes freezes as well. Usualy when I try to re-name rips the AMG lookup can't find or when I try & delete cd's into the recycle bin.

Total powerdown & powerup works everytime - just a computer reboot I suppose .

Crackie, is it a SSD version ?

Manu,

No it is the latest 1 TB version.

Hi Crackie,

Not sure if you're still having the problem with your HDX but if you are please do the following:

1) Unplug the network cable.

2) Plug a VGA monitor into the unit and power it up.

          a) If it gets to the TV GUI then the main unit is booting fine which is good - go to step 3.

          b) If it gets to the Naim disc logo and no further then it is likely to be a corrupt database or trying to access / rebuild a network store that isn't available - contact me directly at phil@naimaudio.com and I can probably resolve this remotely if you have a PC at your end that I can use to log in to (using our corporate LogMeInRescue account).

          c) If it doesn't get to a or b (or displays an error message) then it could be either:

          i) A hard disc failure - this will require a return to dealer / distributor.

ii) A SATA cabling issue - this will require a return to dealer / distributor.

iii) A corrupt BIOS setting - in which case,

          Plug in a keyboard

          Go into the BIOS page

Select "Load Naim Defaults" (and hit "Y" if prompted)

Select "Save And Exit" (and hit "Y" if prompted)

3) If the main unit boots and the front panel display stays on either "Starting Up..." or "Waiting for network..." then suspect that the unit has been set to static addresses and there's an IP mismatch between front panel and the main unit - again contact me directly at phil@naimaudio.com and I can take a look at this remotely if you have a PC that I can log into remotely (using our corporate LogMeInRescue account).

Cheers

Thank you Phil, I'll give it a go if it happens again !

Has not happened for a while - all rips are good ATM.

Hi JB76 - if you're still having issues then please see my reply above...

Thanks

HI Phil,

I am still having a few issues and I am not sure if they are network related or not. Rather oddly yesterday it would play CD's but not Rip (but did rip two CD's initially) but they don't seem to have shown up anywhere. There was no internet connect so I am not sure if that is related.

Something very odd is going on for sure.

I'll drop you an email.

Best,

JB

Have you dropped me an email yet? I don't think I've seen anything from you...

Please note that the forums are not the best places to get support from Naim - it's a public forum and is therefore very dynamic and there's lots of unrelated postings so it's impossible for me and Steve Hopkins to keep an eye on all forum posts looking out for requests for help.

So *PLEASE* contact either me or Steve if you need assistance from Naim. (There should be a sticky at the top of all the forums saying this as well...)

Cheers
