Whitebear - Squeezebox -> UPnP

Posted by: Salmon Dave on 28 December 2011

Loaded this (free apparently) software which acts as a join between SB and UPnP - so should enable my SB server/files to be available viz the network to the ND5XS. However  - 'no service' says the Naim box. Everything seems to be open and running on the puter. Any ideas?

I have found that LMS sometimes disappears. It looks like your network is fine now, so it is probably just LMS disappearing. Try a different UPnP server; Asset is a small, quick download and the basic version is free. It's very easy to set up and will probably find your music library automatically and I find it entirely reliable. It will only take a few minutes.

Thanks, I'll give it a go. The thing with the nanosecond is due to the ND5 recalling 'History' i.e. its memory retaining the structure without finding anything.

As you say the network should be fine, though very odd that it appeared OK to start with and not on any subsequent attempts.

Chris, I downloaded Asset as suggested and as you say it was quick and found all my music files, which were then displayed under 'Asset' on the ND5XS. Unfortunately the same happened as last time, i.e. went to the track and it stopped and jumped back to the top of the tree.

Beginning to get worried I have a duff unit. Fine in all other respects and as said before it did stream music for several minutes (one time only) before I switched back to iradio. Maybe I should contact Naim....

What file format is your music in. I take it it's Wav or some other compatible format the ND5 can play ?

So it displayed all the tracks, artwork etc? and the buffering looks ok when you start to play?

I think it's time you phoned your dealer. It's really their responsibility to make sure you are happy with it at home.

Yes James, all compatible. As I said, I've (once) managed to stream tracks, and it still displays them.

Chris, I think I might borrow another ND5 to isolate the problem. If that one works fine then obviously there's something up with mine. Meantime thanks for all your advice.
