What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Not familiar with this one.

I think my vinyl copy of colour of Spring is one of best quality recordings I possess.

Is this a vinyl version? and how does it compare to Colour of Spring?

Gieseking's Beethoven Appassionata & Waldstein. Recorded in '39.

Taken from 78s.

Horrid transfer job ( below historical grade, i'd say ) but performance is more exciting and intuitive than his later recording.

I thought he was only good for Debussy type of work but here he tells equally compellingly good story via Beethoven pieces.

David,

Its a greatest hits album.

The original cd is still the best sounding.

That said the newer re-release of it with other bits is still good.

The DVD is also brilliant and worth getting.

I do have a vinyl copy but was playing the CD.

I love all things Talk Talk.

All their albums and Marks solo music are all well recorded and dont suffer from loudness wars.

On double black stuff with loads of tape hiss.

Still sounds brilliant though.
