What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Rush 'Counterparts'

I hadn't listened to this for ages, and really enjoyed it, all of it. I am currently reading Neil Peart's book 'Ghost Rider' about how he dealt with the tragedy of losing his daughter and wife, and this album although before those events seems to have a different resonance now.

I am enjoying it, but am only a few chapters in. It is well written, but I am not sure that I have read enough to make a judgement yet.

I can say it is far better than fellow drummer Bill Bruford's book, which I gave up on. I was sick of being 'lectured' that anyone who doesn't want to play jazz in some small club was a sell out.

Now playing more Rush 'All the Wotld's a Stage' (live 1977).

John Mayer Trio "Try"

I have been playing this all day in the car, on my iPhone and now on the main system. I am a massive Bruce fan and I think this is an excellent album. He has been picking up a batch of 4 and 5 star reviews in the press for this which is good to read. Will be spinning this a lot this weekend.
