What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Arrived today from Germany in a very Un-German way; not sealed and without a receipt.

Jason Moran, Ten

This record grows on me every time I play it, even though Moran overshadows the other two members of his trio.

Good for you Steve.  Something tells me it won't be long before you explore their catalogue further.  Live at the Zenith is something quite special.  My thanks go to Michael at l'Audiodistribution for hooking me on this one...

Brahms' piano quintet is one of his best chamber music works, and this is a great recording. Behind it comes one of the string quartets, also a fine performance.

Cheers,
