What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Debs,

I have only two discs of Marcelle Meyer playing Rameau. They are outstanding.

Hi Haim,

haven't listened to all yet, up to cd 10 and like it all so far.

It comes with a recording de period analogue hiss which I find easy enough to subconsciously tune-out of as the music gains involvement. Although i fear some may not like this.

The Rameau is on cd's 9 & 10 and maybe the same as you have, outstanding yes.

The Ravel, and also Couperin 'pieces de clavecin' i find highly enjoyable too.

It's all a very nice collection imho, a good purchase (thanks to Doug) : )

A grower... what a fantastic tenor, a lyrical spinto voice with a dark timbre that reminds of Jon Vickers.

The only album I have played this week as all leisure time has been dedicated to watching the Danish crime series, The Killing - wow.

New one from Vijay Iyer trio and very good too.
