Why? - Because it oozes a live soul/funk sound that makes me wanna shake my hips & certainly gets you in the right mood before the guests arrive !!!

Why? - Got told off for the last album I played !!!!. I need something a little more mainstream yet soulful. Emeli fits the bill.

Why?
There are a couple of reasons I’m listening to this cd...
With my media purchases on complete stop i managed to be sensible and resist buying the forum ‘head’s up’ TD box-set.
I will instead enjoy the TD cd’s I already have, and in this case a big thanks to Jamie for freebying this live one to me a couple of years ago, it's still very much appreciated!

Despite details such as Veldhoven using a single split choir (which to be honest only makes a difference on disc when you listen for it), the conductors share a view on how the Matthäus should sound - flowing lines, no extremes in tempo, emotions kept in check. Herreweghe's soloists have the more beautiful and polished voices, but Andreas Scholl massively disappoints with his non committed singing. By and large, Veldhoven's crew get the message across more vividly. Both conductors do a fine job, with Veldhoven managing the pitfalls just that bit more deftly. All relatively, of course - Herreweghe's remains a beautiful account.
