What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Buddah Records LP - 2005 re-issue (USA)

*

hollible re-issue pressing!

...shrill top end with little resolution in the bass : (

would be having far more fun listening to John Coltrane.

i can feel a jazz genre shift coming over me! : )

Reminds me of some messy nights out, lol.

He played some stuff on his show today that just blowed me away from India.

He knows his jazz history..

The world music he has is wonderful in parts.

Look it up man.

Always loved this mans music.

I have this on vinyl but cant be bothered to get up.

I was at the gig at Wembley when he met the Eagles in 1975 and they asked him to join the band.

Elton has a lot to answer for imo?

Okay, cheers. I realise now why you posted it after I posted the Trane album, what with Felix talking about John and Alice.

Kind of spooky, as when I was listening to Blue Train, I was thinking of Alice's Journey In Satchidananda for some reason... and Pharaoh Sanders is on that album, and he's also mentioned on Felix's show. : )

Not sure about the album, but looking not unlike a five minute ad for American Apparel, here's one of my favourite videos from last year:

The half a minute or so from 1.37 onwards is just excellent.
