What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Some fine clips there. I'd love to see Interpol live some day... and they have to be better than Lamb, right??

(No need to answer that one. I remember looking in here after a few weeks away and saw your not so good Lamb review. I saw them a long time ago, and they were pretty underwhelming then - I don't know about these days, but Lou didn't seem to enjoy it much herself, as I recall. Oh well.)

Last night I listened to the solos of great background musicians. Firstly, what would Bowie have been without this man on guitar:

Secondly, I can not imagine the sound of early 70's Stones with out the piano of:

Auiophile HQ180 vinyl - manufactured at RTI  Acoustech 2007 recut : )

This is one of my most played albums, she has a way of singing in the minor key that is so soulful, and here the backing band are making show just right.

The purr-fectly pressed vinyl does the music justice...

enclosed in an anti-static inner sleeve, the record has no static at all, and didn't need a clean..

YOU ARE STATIC POWER FREE! : )

Just heard a Jerry Garcia solo track on Radio Paradide, so seemed an opportune time to play this.

Hi kk, I was just saying hi really, as I hadn't spotted your posts lately.

In case you didn't know though, Scuba is Paul Rose, owner of Hotflush Recordings, home of Mount Kimbie, so you just might like Triangulation. It sounds a little like Burial in places, though maybe hasn't the same consistent quality (What has?). Have a listen to 'Latch' and 'So You Think You're Special' if you're curious.

He has a new album out next month, and anything Hotflush is buy on sight for me just now.

Hi there Chief,

Yeah i haven't been posting much.  Christmas was busy and to be honest i was just listening to music and not surfing much.

Will check out your recommendations as always.

I'm never quite sure which I prefer, the Kodaly or Britten. They're both good and Truls Mørk has the technical chops to make these difficult scores sound effortless.

Why don't i listen to more Gomez?!  This can be had for a penny!

Just great pop/rock/prog songwriting from Randy McStine. Looking forward to his new release which features Colin Edwin & Gavin Harrison.

Yesterday, Afica Hi-Tech, '93 Million Miles' while running 12 miles preparing for April's marathon. This afternoon, Zomby 'Dedication', a definite recommendation to anyone who enjoys Scuba's Triangulation from the previous page and one of the best from 2011. In a bit, Thundercat's LP after seeing someone is listening to George Duke (he covers For Love I Come on it)
