What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

MF Doom (Madvillain). I don't listen to much hip hop but this is amazing, lyrically and musically.

Madvillainy LP is a classic, serious production.

Yes I have and love Madvillainy. Are there any others you would recommend? Stones Throw were doing a tasty looking tin "lunch box" set that I liked the look of...

Mainly played for Paul Buchanan's voice.

Operation Doomsday is a classic too, and was out of print for a long time, so the fancy packing is a neat bonus to pick it up!  Would have to recommend the Jaylib album; Madlib and J Dillard spitting thuggish rhymes over each others productions.  RIP Dilla.

Jumped in at disc 4, already have the first 3 discs in 3xcd box-set.

I find listening to Walter Olbertz very easy on the ear, and impressive.

For the years of recording (late 60's - mid 70's) the sonic reproduction is excellent +

A nice box of delights to keep me entertained during these long winter nights : )

Pink Floyd -- Animals (2011 remaster).  It sounds SO good on my system.  A top-10 all time favorite album for me, sounding really good ripped to my UnitiServe.

I think I like this album better than Helium, which IMO was really cool. Ambient dance music at its best.
