What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
Antony and the Johnsons. Love this album has great emotion which can be felt, if you know what I mean. Don't think I would make a good music critic

The day you start listening to someone telling what you should listen to, you'd better pack your bags and move to sad land. This a beautiful album!!!

Sharon Van Etten - Tramp
First listen. Really enjoying this. She played in town recently but I wasn't able to attend. Sorry that I missed it.

Massabumi Kikuchi Trio, first spin.
An ECM debut from Masabumi Kikuchi and a last session from the great Paul Motian. Motian and Kikuchi were friends for many years and Paul understood the idiosyncracies and the wayward charm of the Japanese pianist’s highly personal style perhaps better than anyone. The trio - completed by Zen bassist Thomas Morgan - makes new art out of the interactive free rubato ballad. A strangely beautiful album.

The first Steve Hackett album while he was still a member of Genesis. Very good production on this remaster. All in all an excellent introduction to the Steve Hackett solo years. Excellent guitar playing on this.

The first Genesis album without Peter Gabriel and what a fantastic album it is too. If this is missing from your collection then don't delay buy it now.

The production and sound quality of this live double 180g album is brilliant.
Steven Wilson does it again.
Wonderful album.

Vivaldi cello concertos spiced up with some of the Red Priest's other works. Whenever Queyras is playing, this is an outstanding record. When left to their own devices, the Akademie play aggressively, hyper disciplined but failing to touch the charming side of Vivaldi.

It's only a download on my MacBook but the hairs are standing up on my arms and I'm getting shivers down my back.
