What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

This leaves me feeling disappointed… thought it would be a nice cosy soothing unpretentious Marais trio but actually turns out to be two slightly shrill violins with a harpsichord and a viola da gamba chugging along for the ride, far too Italian flavoured for my French taste : (

Trio Wanderer perform Schubert's two late trios - this two-disc set later reappeared on the Harmonia Mundi label.

First listen.  Really enjoying this.  She played in town recently but I wasn't able to attend.  Sorry that I missed it.

Hi Pat, I'd also recommend Sharons previous release 'Epic'. At just over 30 minutes, small but perfectly formed. I'm glad I got a ticket to see her in London next month, the night after Steven Wilson

Check Sharons videos (especially 'Love More' from Epic) here - http://sharonvanetten.com/video

Hi Denis,

Sorry for the late reply.  Thank you for the recommendation.  Added to the wish list.    Will check out the videos too.  Enjoy her show!

Best regards,

Pat

Remember being at school when this first came out, the teacher came into the classroom after lunch and gave us all a book to read for the hour lesson. Then he placed a record player on his desk and told us all to read the book while we all listened to this record. I never did read any of that book, great record and great teacher.

June 1973 perchance?

Next year is going to be fun - 40 years on..

We used to annoy the ;;;; out of our teachers playing it continuously in the common room during breaks / lunchtimes.

What chance a HiRes download available for the anniversary?
