What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Excellent album

Remember buying this when it first came out so out of touch with what was coming out at the time. It was the time of the Punk explosion. Looking back now it must have been a brave move by the group and record label, but it worked. Excellent album.

I do remember being dragged to see the frankly ghastly Streisand film A Star is Born by a then girlfriend and spending as time as possible not watching the film as possible .

Her reappearance in films like the Focker series has redeemed her standing I feel.

I don't really care for her films either, but i do like the Guilty album. Bab's and the Gibb's seem to compliment each other quite nicely....not everyone's cup of tea tho.

My second listen: the first time this didn’t quite do it for me, musically it’s fine with a hint of lazy rhythmic jolliness that would be even easier on the ear if the piano recording was closer …some recording room reverberation colouring it’s timbre i guess.

Amazing looking gold cd which has obviously been very well manufactured,

just a shame about the sound engineering.

Storm Corrosion - or at least Drag Ropes from it :-)

If I could work out how to embed it here I would save you the hassle of wandering over to You Tube and finding out for yourself just how different it is to what I expected.

Neat video as well.

To quote the inevitable - Never expect the Spanish inquisition..

The Cure - Faith.  On the Black Stuff.  There I have finally been able to say it.

This One of my favourite albums from my yoof. I used to listen to this pretty much constantly in my first year of University - probably one of the darkest albums ever recorded especially the title track.

After falling in love with her Mozart sonatas, I picked up this set. I can't say

enough good things -- I find myself listening to this even more than the

Mozart.
