What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

A couple of years ago a mate tool me out in his Caterham, again something I have lusted after. Well after an hour of batting around country lanes etc I had to admit it did everything I was expecting as regard handling acceleration and such like.

But it did cure me of wanting one, it felt like I had been in a spin dryer, wind effect was unbelievable completely unacceptable, apparently even with the side screens or even a helmet it is unavoidable, and therefore a no no for me.  You would get less buffetting on 200 mph motorbike I reckon.

I will say I didn't get to drive it, but not sure that would have made much difference.

Fleming's titular album is one of her better operatic recitals. Some real gems, including rousing performances of the big arias from Adriana Lecouvreur and La Wally.

Cheers,

Late last night: one of Savall's discs with Spanish music from the late middle ages, with a leading part for the sorely missed Montserrat Figueras.

Cheers,

Not as 'instant' as "Ladies & Gentlemen..." on first listen. Might take me a bit of getting into.

On amazon uk.

Its not even in mint or as new condition.

Its used good.

And he still wants plus £1.28 for uk delivery.

New Cross, New Cross so good they said it twice. Still my favourite band from the new wave/punk era - it was easy, it was cheap, go and do it and Mr J Peel thought so too.
