What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Just coming onto the last track. Roof's been down, cruise control on........
Brings back great memories of seeing them live at a recording for the BBC In Concert series in the 70's
Another one of those albums that did nothing for me upon release so giving it another go.

I'll be interested to know what the "another go" does for you. I heard them on R2 earlier in the year and I thought they sounded excellent. For some reason I left the album on my "wish list" but never clicked on the buy it now.
Was listening to Montreal from Echoes of Silence today, that, into outside and then XO/The Host and Initiation is a match for the first album in terms of quality I reckon, though I don't think you're keen on Initiation?

As heard on The Weeknd's 'Loft Music', an album that all sounds the same, in a good way:
A track from next month's new Air album featuring the dreamy vocals of Beach House's Victoria Legrand has recently surfaced online, though like most Air these days, it sounds pretty ropy to these ears on first listen: 'Seven Stars'
Hi reubs, Yes, definitely worth hearing, and for me, even better than the excellent follow-up, Teen Dream - it has a kind of really strong dark and light mood that wouldn't be out of place on a David Lynch soundtrack. And If you look up 'Gila' on YouTube, there's now plenty of 'The Weeknd sent me here' kind of comments (though I know I posted Devotion here a year or so back!)
I need to listen to Echoes of Silence some more if it gets your seal of approval, as I've still haven't heard it since I first downloaded it. Now on my iPod for next week. Thx.
James,
I would never had you down as a N.W.A fan.
Keeping it real man.

A few tracks from this album.
Why?
Because they are good.

.........one of my favourite Stones albums
Now, Kuedo's recent FACT mix, featuring Carly Simon, Aaliyah, Danny Brown, Sully, Giggs, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, AraabMusik, Drake and more, including a few tracks from his album. This really shouldn't work, but it does.
reubs, I'm guessing you have, but have you heard this one and/or his (stunning) album? Here's his top ten from last year, btw. Must read our posts here.
My sons baby sitters band.
One of today;s purchases. I've got an instant connection with this band. I also got the latest CD, but will have to listen tomorrow. Thanks for your help Chief
On original vinyl although I have a copy on tape somewhere.

No problem, Denis. I was going to suggest that you should try Antics as well as their debut the other day. It's certainly more upbeat, and maybe an easier listen.
Re your Gang Gang Dance post earlier, the only other Naimies I can remember listening to any of their albums are me and Whizzkid - read into that what you will. : )
This one's cool:

I love this album.
I love all her work.
A big shout out goes to BigH47 for getting me into her music all those years ago.
Thanks Howard.
Stu.
