What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Oh I don't know. June 21, Stadium of Light Sunderland  - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Perhaps Martin O'Neill will get some motivation tips from the Boss

After my nephew saw Bruce, twice, in Madison Square Garden recently, he did say it was awesome.

Mind you, I still come out in a cold sweat when I recall seeing Yes twice in 3 nights @ The Rainbow during the Topographic Oceans tour. Almost as gut wrenching as the last John Mayer album

Two nights of Topographic Oceans is rather appealing  but yes I do wrench at the mention of JM.

Stu,

I'll check it out sometime soon. I guess he deserves a second chance, unlike Yes who were steered too close to the soleil by Jon.

Is the sound quality of these records good as their past pressing?

Kuma,

out of all the Yello vinyl in my humble collection...

Flag,

Stella,

One Second,

Claro Que Si,

1980-1985, The New Mix In One Go

You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess,

the Touch pressings are the best by far, imo.

Mind you, i haven't got 'Baby' ...yet.

It delivers. Excellent. A grower of an album, mellow, acoustic, atmospheric, right up my street. Not what one would expect from the two participants, which is a good thing.

+1.

Some parts remind of an old horror movie theme, some shockingly simple but catching moments. I'm really liking this.

Nothing like anything before, and most certainly not what one could 'expect' given the two protagonists.

Goes without saying, recording/mastering & dynamics are all 5*

Some may find this a bit challenging, but this is a fine album.

I like this one better than the recent release by the Doric String Quartet ...

Posted on: 10 May 2012 by BigH47

Earlier on Spotify, not too impressed first play sounds like soundtrack music to me. Not sure where SW is going, not sure I want to go with him.

Just in from Germany:-

5 tracks in  and I can hear why there are so many fans enthusing about this CD, excellent.

Posted on: 10 May 2012 by Kevin-W

On vinyl, this is simply one of the best-recorded albums I've ever heard...

He is exploring, pushing his musical boundaries as he always does and challenging his listeners. I like the journey he is on. Like his recent solo album, he is on form IMHO.
