What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyhow, one of my favourite tunes from the last year or two, from Axel Boman's debut EP for Pampa, Holy Love:

^ The killer tune from the B-side, 'Purple Drank', as played by Jamie Jones, Lando Kal, Jamie xx, and even me - no snap, crackle and pop here though (un) fortunately.

"Another batch" sounds good to me. Short of you saying you'd just got back from Japan or somewhere with a stash of originals, not sure if I could be much more envious! Every time I try to talk myself into seriously getting back into vinyl, I think of all the old Blue Notes, Verves, Riversides, and so on I'm missing out on. Oh well...

Chief,

Have a look on the jpc site.

Lots of good deals to be had their at the mo.

Stu.

JPC are selling the Music Matters albums for 70 euros each but don't have them in stock. Cheaper to import a batch from the US even with customs charges.

Stu, I would be surprised as MM releases don't get discounted. they are very limited and tend to up in value rather than down - current price for the last few copies of Grant Green Matador, originally $50, is now $199.

They had three or four albums on there this week very cheap.

I was looking for something at the time and clocked them to go back later.

But they had gone.

They had some other jazz 45rpm vinyl at very good prices also.

Sorry Stu - it is not. It's £15 on Blue Note but it is not the Music Matters release - big difference. Amazon don't sell them.

Bizarre. Love the cover, but really love the psychedelic original. New album has been started apparently.

Hi reubs, You just made me have another look. At 2.00, clearly the real Slim Shady. (I find him unlistenable, fwiw.)

I know that cover more than the original - the only Animal Collective album I've heard more than once or twice is the one before, Strawberry Jam. Didn't know a new TBT album was coming soon - that means they both have new ones on the way, funnily enough.

(I had a feeling you'd post something if you spotted my post for The Weeknd! I've heard it, but not watched the whole thing. He seems uncomfortable with playing live, for now anyway, which kind of surprised me.)

You know me so well, I will always comment on Abel. I thought there were moments of greatness during the performance, not least The Morning into House of Balloons.  Sure, not fully comfortable, but I think a dark room may suit him better.

Going to listen to Purple Drank now, for the title if nothing else!

I listened to one of the tracks on tonefloat last night & interesting enough to try again.
