What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Probably one of the greatest recordings of classical music ever ... Just sublime. I'll dig out my vinyl copy this evening!

I have a few of those EMI 'great recordings of the century' cd's, all of fantastic quality imo, including one which was my first cd listen to Delius and which shares the same disc with some Arnold Bax, and John Ireland.

It may pay you to put the Delius box set on your wish list for now, Amazon uk seem to have the most affordable price currently at £33.89 - but i think this price may just drop down to an even better bargain level the way things are going, and Delius not being most people's cup of tea.

But for anyone who likes FD's music the EMI box-set is very well recommended!

This was my favourite album and concert of 2011. It is a bit of a departure from KD’s jazzy style, rockier and back to her rock & roll roots hence the title. The band, production, and SQ are fantastic. I love it

Steve Hillage with TONTO Expanding Head Band

TONTO is like an analogue Synclavier and often makes me think do symphony orchestras have a place in contemporary music when these wonderful machines just do it so much better and do not have temper tantrums or get drunk when they should be rehearsing,
