What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Today I went to my nearby record store to buy the new Melody Gardot LP but unfortunately there wasn't any left so I bought this instead.

It is a little bit different genre. There are no vocals - bass and drums dominate. This is a good one.

Despite regular additions to the catalogue, notably Mullova / Anderszewski in the 90s, and more recently Capucon / Angelich and Mutter / Orkis, these 1967 recordings remain among the most compelling. Julius Katchen made name as the pianist of the Suk trio, together with Suk and Janos Starker on cello. Their Brahms work solo and together, stunningly recorded by Decca, are an absolute highlight in the history of recorded classical music.

Cheers,

EJ

I'm not a great fan of Brahms but I have to agree that this album is a must.

I have just completed my household jubilee celebrations with a very loud performance of Neil Young and Crazy Horse and their version of God Save The Queen. Good album.

I have listened to a couple of tracks and samples, and I think it more like the next Steve Hackett album.

What is the rest of the COYB's album like?
