What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
Mingus Three (1957) Yesterdays Back Home Blues I Can't Get Started Hamp's New Blues Summertime Dizzy Moods Laura
Charles Mingus Quartet And Max Roach (1955) A Foggy Day Drums Haitian Fight Song Lady Bird I'll Remember April Love Chant

Sound quality is fantastic!
I shouldn't be playing jazz before my nightshift...
always find that playing jazz music makes me feel far too chilled out and relaxed to want to get ready and go off out to work... guess i may arrive there late again : >
is this normal?

Burial, 'Street Halo' EP. Nice bass rumble and percussion even just on my AKG 450s (the little man is asleep). Thinking of getting some efficient closed back cans for evening sessions-recommendations up to circa £150?

Shelagh McDonald is a bit like early Joni Mitchell joining Fairport Convention, well better than that because, much as I like Joni, Shelagh's songs never become here's another song about me, but are more traditional. And on a few ocassions she sounds like Grace Slick. At times she sounds a bit more the wonderful Sandy, which is OK by me. Mostly she sounds like herself though.
Shelagh made two LPs - one called Album and the other called Stargazer. If you haven't heard her then you are missing one of the great talents of the UK acid folk scene of the early 70s.

An excellent album with some collaboration with Helene Grimaud too.

"We're gonna skate to one song, and one song only..."
Jay Z and Kanye, 'N***as in Paris'. Bonkers production. Whole album is a flawed masterpiece of sorts.

Part of a large box of records i was given a few years ago. Most were in need of a good clean so ended up in the loft. Now i've invested in a (very noisy ) Moth RCM they are getting played for the first time.
