What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

You seem to be having a bit of a John Mayer night Stu - what's his music like? Should I buy some?

Thanks.

I like everything about this,

great tunes,

the way he plays,

the sound engineering,

and the vinyl quality is fabulous too.

Wish all piano music on LP was this good : )

Just ordered this on vinyl after listening to a few tracks on Youtube.

What a great sounding album, thanks for posting it!

Hi Apye! Glad you like it. Mr Fitzsimmons is wonderful......... His last album Gold In The Shadow is pretty good too. Probably not alround as this one. I don't think there is a duff track on the whole thing. In fact the whole album melds into one perfect picture.

John Hiatt - Perfectly Good Guitar

A simply cracking album from beginning to end.

Thanks to J.N. for the prod.

I'd never come across his music before but thought i'd give it a go after hearing him talking on R2. Lovely album.

Evidence that Brahms could weave a  good tune in his chamber music (as opposed to a dense mass of ideas): the andante of the first sextet is one of his finest melodies. I'm new to the Nash Ensemble, love their tone and sensibilities in this music.

Kevin Figes - 4 Sided Triangle [No image available]

Very impressive. Bit funky, bit John Schofield in the guitar and excellent overall.

I wish they'd re-release this on vinyl or CD or hi-resolution download, but AAC is better than nothing courtesy of iTunes store - great album.

Marconi Union - Different Colours. Enjoying this from what I have heard so far. Electronics, ambient, chill out, downbeat, post rock with some jazz tinges.
