What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Ane Brun - Changing of the Seasons

First play and sounding remarkably like the McGarrigles', this appears to be a wise buy after a Spotify session.

reubs, I looked this up after you posted it a few days back. I like the songs with Victoria Bergsman, but after a couple of listens, I'm not sure about much of the rest yet. I might have to get the BNJMN album (and his earlier one) that you posted soon after though, so thanks for posting that one.

The new Lindstrom album that's on the way looks much better then his last. This one still does it for me...

Elton John - 'Tumbleweed Connection'.

Forget the bloat, pomp and glam of bald Reg's later years - This is immaculate songwriting from Messrs Dwight and Taupin, with a lovely 'Americana' concept running through the 1970 album.

Cracking musicians and vocal performances, notably from Caleb Quaye on guitars and the sadly departed Lesley Duncan.

My great sounding (for a change) 1995 Mercury remaster also contains a stonking nine minute original version of 'Madman Across the Water'.

Thanks Reg.

John.

John,

Sadly their are a couple of others no longer with us that worked on that and a few other of Elton's best albums.

It will always remain one of my fav's.

My remaster has Madman at 8.51 mins

I can still remember when i bought the original album the day it came out from Record corner in Ashford.

And the many nights playing it over and over again for a few weeks after.

My girlfriend dumped me to go and live in the USA

You should see the film!

Very very good imo.

(would have been excellent if they'd got away with it)
