What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Great stuff, live on Radio Three from the RAH. Hidef stream on the net!

After forty-one years of Prom listening, I can definitely say this was the best radio relay I have ever heard!

I strongly recommend the chance to review this broadcast on the radio iplayer [accessed from the Radio Three homepage] when it becomes available in the next few hours [but for one week only].

Nothing to add. I am devastated by the great performance of a favourite musical/theatrical score.

Nice one Debs. The lovely 'Shed' folk are in my home town, so I popped in to pick up my copy.

You might be interested in a video about them, filmed in their previous, smaller premises.

I had forgotten what a stunningly good record this is. Disarmingly simple-sounding tracks, but more concentration reveals a songwriter at the height of his powers. This is just effortless genius from Macca. MUCH more to this record than one would suspect. Brilliant.

I feel that this will stand the test of time in the same way that "Ram" (above) has. Marvellous record.

Well, it is a Sunday after all!!

Had my system on random, and a Billie Holiday track came on. Ooo nice I thought, wonder what's on Spotify to enhance my knowledge of this beautiful singer.....gasp....932 albums alone on just Billie with out Billie and her Orchestra etc.

Can you fine people recommend a "must listen" album? 932 albums going to take a while!
