What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyway, links:

Yeah, me too. It seems kind of daft to pay for the one I posted above when so many are put out for nothing, but it's over an hour and was less cash than the only 100% Silk twelve I have, the very slinky Octo Octa - Let Me See You. It has some great sounds, including the cool Fort Romeau track FACT just posted as a free d/l, though some of the mixing is shocking, even by my standards (!)

Probably the greatest exponent of the Saxophone I have ever heard. There will be a feature on her on the BBC during February (not sure exact date/time). She suffers from Parkinson's disease, but still manages to play and write. A national treasure and few seem to know her until you mention her TV themes like A Touch Of Frost (the theme tune is far better than the programme unless you like watching the detectives). Mrs Jon Hiseman since 1967 or is he Mr Barbara Thompson.

Just played a bit more & this is really hitting the spot. A better recording than their debut, Turn On The Bright Lights and more commercial (not a bad thing in my book).

In fact I like the band enough already, so just ordered Antics & Turn On The Bright Lights on Vinyl.

Bought a Lenny Breau CD from this label, and they apparently included this in with it as an extra (or an error?) - I have no idea what it will hold so should be interesting.  Some good musicians on it...
