What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Yes, he recommended it me some time ago. I have another version, but nowhere near as dynamic. The cannon and bells must be quite something on the DBLs.

Symphony #4, from the same set. None of the slight reservations I have with the 7th, this one is just awesome.

Hi Stu,

Gotta say dude, you are the best. Always suggesting quality music and where/when to buy cheaply.

Gold medal for you!!!

Stu is right, this is a great compilation. The only problem when waiting  to buy some "items" at knocked down prices is that people have usually moved on. If not, one would still be listening to Bing Crosby. Actually, people still do!

Mine pack arrived today, near mint 3xCD box-set for £1.95 (to include delivery)

Just working my way thought them now, fabulous music and excellent SQ

I see the 'used' price via Amazon has jumped up to almost a fiver now : >

That's your fault, Stu,  ...people read this forum! ; )

Thanks for the heads up! : )

Debs,

I would pay a tenner for it now after hearing it.

Its worth it just for the tracks that are not on anything else.

As you say the SQ is excellent.

Try and catch the tv doc/film the next time its on the BBC.

I like these Naive Vivaldi releases.

This one will take me two days to get through though (03hr 22min 30sec)

Superbly cool tunes for a summer evening whilst watching soundless olympics

Symphony #4, Haitink's first recording with the RCO. A much darker, brooding reading than most others. The orchestra's simmering cello section is irresistible.

Cheers,

Thats still one of my all time fav KW albums.

Munch still loves it.

If you don't already have a copy of this brilliant album Kate did (covers of songs that framed her life)

Grab a copy.

What she does to the Cure and others songs is just too fookin brilliant.

All her albums a wonderful imo.

She is also a loverly person.

My only bug with her is no vinyl.

If you ever get a chance to see her live go for it.
