What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyway, links:

Listening to #4 and enjoying it. Reminds me of the famous Kleiber/VPO recording in phrasing and tempo.

George,

I hope you bought the double with the Insignificance CD?

The double vinyl album is also brilliant.

Stu.

I'm afraid not Stu. I went for an early a press as possible. Delerium 1996, 12 tracks - Made in England. I'll have to check out the vinyl, thanks.

I also recently picked up an early press of 'Nil Recurring' EP on Transmission which also sounds fabulous. Can Mr W do anything wrong? I don't think so!

George,

The insignificance 10 track CD snaper 2004 double England pressed set is well worth having.

The next time Julian is up for a club meeting ask him to bring his remastered double vinyl with him.

If Denis goes ask him to bring his original vinyl pressing.

It should be a fun listen.

If Denis comes down with Scotty in a couple of weeks i will ask him to bring his original vinyl as i have only heard the double remaster.

Wilhelm Backhaus: Beethoven Piano Concerto No.4

Excellent recording and Backhaus plays like a crystal clear fresh mountain spring.

.....arghhhh, if only I could have a tiny corner from your vinyl Kuma ......

Why is Beethoven looking at Mendelssohn here?  And he doesn't look very amused about whatever it is?

I only have Backhaus on CD with the complete Piano Sonatas of Beethoven and my overall impression has always been of what a wonderful sense of rhythm Backhaus has.  I'd sure love to hear this here too....
