What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

First reissue of Rheingold, from Dohnanyi's halfway-abandoned Ring. All in all, a great recording with very good singers, a conductor who clearly has the measure of the work and knows how to marshall his forces, and the best sound quality of any ring, period.

OK it could be dismissed as a bit of a gimmick but it is very well played and enjoyable.

A bit of controversy during post-production but still sounds bloody good on vinyl!

Yes indeed.     Been listening to some of the Europe '72 shows lately.  I didn't buy the whole set, just a few different dates.
