What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Gave this a try after seeing it in one of the "if you like <x>, you may like <y>" Amazon suggestions.  First listen.

EJ,

Have you tried Böhm's ( later set with Vienna Phil ) or Lenny's (with Vienna Phil) Jupiter?

Grover Washington, Jr: The Best is Yet to Come

the new re-issued

At that time Savall organized to perform/record it at Santa Barbara church in Mantoua - one of the suspected original first-performance-places.

Very-very strong reference record although there are many really good others; delivers not only excellent music and sond quality but strange effects and feelings too.

On my set a good copy of the first edition outperforms the newest original one.

Lucinda Williams - West.

Home alone, so loud and giving the system a good work out.

On CD

This is one of my favorite John Stewart albums. The album contains a great combination of catchy tunes, thoughtful ballads, and insightful ruminations on society. If you are new to John Stewart this is a good place to start. The Complete Phoenix Concerts album is also excellent.

Thanks Graham. It looks like it's getting rare/collectible on CD. I've long had a hankering to get some of JS's music and have bagged an original CD from the States for sensible money.

Excellent.

Sometimes really jazzy - but pure Early Music.
