What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyway, links:

Yeah I agree...listening to it right now, on vinyl.

Richard

And how good are those two 180g pressings?

Brilliant is my answer.

Only played each side twice this evening after listening to the CD and CD rip for the last few days.

Man Bob can still put words together with a tune to draw one in.

Vinyl still rules imo.

Duquesne Whistle - Weird and wonderful video and indeed good to see him at his best once again. And as Stu rightly said, the 180g pressings  are a must.

Haim,

The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it... I can resist everything but temptation. (Oscar Wilde)

This was already buried deep in my Wish List and was only waiting for the other ECM I was going to order along with it - Andras Schiff's new Bach recording!!

Sadly, for myself there is no limit when it comes to music involving a piano or a stringed instrument.

Dusty,

 Brilliant 10 CD box set.

Disc one track 10 always makes me laugh.

A reminder of good times had during ones youth.

I have just put it on.

Stu.

Good call Stu,

We're never too old are we!!!

I went to the Beautiful Island earlier this year, 30 of us for a 50th. Fantastic time...the food...the atmosphere..the wine & the song...o the song!!

Luv it.

30 of you ? That must of been fun.

Man mission in the late 80s nearly killed me.

I had never been in a room with so many people before in my life with great dance music playing.

Miles to go before you sleep

That track is such a odd one out on that album.

It must be on youtube some where? but i am no good at posting there links.

The debut solo release from Anneke Van Giersbergen...

Agua de Annique's - Air

A complete change from the Gathering as Anneke moved into Pop music songwriting on this occasion. The voice was as beautiful and powerful as ever, and still is.

On CD.

Brings back memories of spinning albums on the old Zenith console.
