I love this album. It must be 12 months since Stu first posted telling us what a fantastic album it was. He was not wrong it still sounds fantastic and it has become one of my all time favourites.

Hey Stu
Didn't you get this one from me?

Anything Jenny does is GREATTTT!!!
This is her second solo album. Try her first with the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat. Another GREAT one and audiophile ear candy.
Rilo Kiley albums (her band before going solo) are also great.

Purchased CD and ripped to NaimServe SSD. Typical Lyle as in a superb recording that is system demo worthy. The name of Lyle Lovett’s last contractual album for Curb Records, Release Me, is a bit of a joke, functioning as both a title and a farewell. The album itself is a mixture of covers and originals.

I listen to both young, old, and the immortal artists. Tonight was mostly the younger crowd and I have to say, for myself, I see no valid reason to only live exclusively in the past. In fact I think to do so would be a mistake. These days the quality and level of playing is so exceptional. Anyway, I enjoy hearing what is going on these days as well as enjoying what the older crowd did too.

Hi Doug,
It's been a while since I saw Vogt come by, and I don't have a recording of the Fairy Tale Pictures. Care to share your thoughts on this disc?

Second run. I still think it's a good performance, but my issue remains that Kaufman's powerful Don Jose, disturbed from the start, seems to direct his energy into a vacuum. Carmen herself doesn't have enough presence to fill that gap. Kozena isn't bad, just ill matched with Kaufman. A bit of a shame, as Rattle and the Berliners are SPECTACULAR. I've grown used to the Escamillo, who sings quite handsomely when he is helped by a healthy volume level.
Cheers,
EJ
