What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
They said it wouldn't work... Willie and Wynton. Marvelous stuff!

E,
The name rings a few bells but cant say i have heard anything from them.
I will go and have a listen.
Are you going to H K this winter after the summer you have had up there?
Stu.
Not sure yet but might go for 3 weeks in Jan and as usual stay with family. Gives me a chance to search through all the second hand shops there. Might if I do pop over into China for some business in Chengdhu.

I have an official copy of the original mix of the album on cd as the '87 copy of the cd was a stereo remix by George Martin done in '86.

My vinyl remaster of HELP doesn't sound quite as bad as my Rubber Soul copy [also re-issue remaster 1988] nicely detailed but with little bass punch they both have a 'shouty' kind of brightness which spoils the fun. Shame really.
I wonder what George Martin actually thought of digital.

What's wrong with it Stu? Not a huge favourite of mine but it does have some ace tunes on it, sounds great, the LP sleeve has lovely photography on it and I'd much rather listen to South Pacific than to shite like X-Factor, Eva Cassidy or Van Morrison any day...
