What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Thats right it is on "these songs for you live" album, I think the liner notes read that it was ommited from the first live album due to a sound problem. Its still a good live set and the sound isue doesn't detract too much from the enjoyment. Good versions of Valdez and flying easy.

you may have already but Moon Duo's new album circles is  worth a listen if you like Loop ,,

Love Moon Duo but haven't heard that one - will check it out, thanks.

Loop's later recordings are less aggressively riff-based, the sound is more diffuse. All good stuff. Have you heard Main, Robert Hampson's project after Loop? They were really good.

K

Kevin, no not heard Main, will look them up , I didnt follow up on Loop after Fade out if i am honest i prefered sonic youth etc at the time,,, looks like amazon shares will be going up shortly.

I think this old Hüsker Dü bassist has hit a jackpot. This is an awesome rock album. I am surprised the average ranking it is getting from reviews around.

Listening to Moravec's beethoven's PC4 again.

One of my favourite 4th along with Kempff/Leitner's.

Chopin Piano Concerto No.1: Paul Badura-Skoda/Rodzinski

Too romantic for me perhaps. The 2nd movement is all puppy love. All sweet and light with no trace of bitterness or sadness which makes it kinda dull.

Trouble is I'm looking for Beethoven in Chopin program!

Gillian Welch - The Harrow & The Harvest.   Certainly a nice Fall album.  For me, it gets better with each listen.

First Aid Kit - The Big Black & The Blue.  I really like their second album, so picked up this one.  First listen.
