What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Thanks for the recommendation.  I haven't kept up with Bob's solo albums.

"Moanin" : The Japanese version that I bought in Tokyo. Sounds better than the RVG Edition that I bought recently.

Peter,

The Japanese reissues are generally excellent and I have a few that are a match if not better than the original RVG issues. Which company issued this LP? Toshiba-EMI?

Best stay clear of RvG remasterings, I find them sounding horrible!

Far more superior are the remasterings by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray as on the Analogue Productions label (LP and SACD).

Hi ewemon.

Thank you for the heads up on this one. It was waiting for me when i got in from work and it is all you say above 'A truly superb disc'. I think there is also a hint of John Hiatt in his voice. What do you know about Keith? Has he any more music out there to match this.

Regards Graham.

Aleg,

I was referring to the RVG originals, not the RVG reissues of which I have no experience. The AP and Music Matters 45rpm remasters I agree are excellent. I have the MM issue of "Moanin" which is superb.
