What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

1st listen to this since getting my "new" Naim system 18 months back. Very disappointed with the SQ. Just sounds flat and harsh. Will need to go back and review their catalog to see if earlier albums are the same, or may just keep listening to it in the car.
A couple of samples from Ethan Johns - If Not Now Then When?

I hope the LP is for sale @ tomorrow nights gig

Still one of my all time favourite discs.

Via BBC iPlayer on my laptop. Best music show on the radio IMO. I always discover something new every week...
Stuart's show tonight looks like it will be a good one.
With music from COB-Spirit of Love Clive Palmer from the Incredible String Band.
Tom Robinson is playin some great tunes at the mo and alot of Prince to come.
Jarvis Cocker's show was good today, he played some great Half Man Half Biscuit /John Peel interviews at the end.
Stu.
Cheers for the heads up Stu, will give Jarvis' show a listen.
The Freak Zone I'm currently listening to is last week's, with Sun Ra.

One of the greatest country albums of all time. A stone cold classic.

> Stuart's show tonight looks like it will be a good one.
I have the two albums by Clive's Original Band (C.O.B) ... they are both very good. Clive was in the original Incredible String Band, but had left before they created their two masterworks 5000 Spirits and The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter.
1971's Spirit of Love is a splendid album, but I prefer the following year's Moyshe McStiff and the Tartan Lancers of the Sacred Heart.
So I'll definitely have a listen - I'll catch up with JC on the iPlayer to check out those HMHB interviews though if they with John then I suspect I have them somewhere
Sill I play this while waiting for the Freak Zone
- Mike Heron - Guitar, Keyboards.

Still one of my all time favourite discs.
Great record

Fantastic line up on that album.
I think you do have the interviews already but its still always good to hear classic quotes by JP and Geoff Prob and Nigel on how it all started on the radio.
Stu.
As a result of listening to The Freak Zone earlier (see post above) I have ordered this album, by San Fransisco's Wooden Shjips. Stuart played a track called "Flight" which was the best thing I've heard in yonks:
First Aid Kit - The Big Black And The Blue
I have just heard a brilliant track by Roger Eno the brother of Brian called Marrers.
The album is not out until next year.
I want it.

I saw this band on Friday night at The Dublin Castle, Camden Town. Although not a great sound mix, there was an intense cinematic atomosphere created with similar dynamics and influences of Massive Attack & UNKLE. Currently available as a download the album will have a CD release soon. I'll be buying it and seeing the band on their next tour. I went to gig after meeting some people last week at the Lucy Rose gig in Cambridge, who knew Lucy's drummer, who is dating the female singer with Default Collective!
Indie rock album from 1997.
Pink Floyd performing Dark Side Of The Moon, recorded in concert at the Empire Pool, Wembley, London, in November 1974.
BBC Radio 6 Music Classic Concert - Available on BBC iPlayer until 2:02AM Sat, 3 Nov 2012

The hour long BBC recording is different to that released last year as part of the Why Pink Floyd Experience and Immersion edition programme.
playing the vinyl : )
In the same drawer as last album. Enjoyable indie-pop.

Denis,
Great INFO As normal .
Would of missed that on iPlayer.
I have a few bootlegs of the 74 concert and was there for one night.
IMO the 77 Animals straight into Wish you were here Wembley Pool gig was better for SQ though.
Stu.
Her new stuff for the first time in the world.
