What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

One of my all time favourite albums
One of my all time favourite albums
floid,
I agree, his best solo album by a country mile imho. I bought two LP's on the day of release and one is still sealed.
Stunning
A post by Debs a while back inspired me to buy this - reminiscent of my days as a youth listening to WOR radio ("Rambling with Gambling") in the mornings...

Denis,
Thats a waste of a brilliant LP.
I could be playing it for you.

And Me
I have an original 1983 Japanese pressing of this, even on my modest system it absolutely jumps out of the speakers - by far the best-recorded album I have ever heard. Underrated record in the PF canon too - perhaps because it's the least "Pink Floyd-y" record Pink Floyd ever made.

Kevin,
Is it the original Jap Direct Cut vinyl pressing?

Think so Stu, but I'm not at home so I can't check. If I remember right I bought it at the time it came out (April '83?) from Caroline Records (remember them? Great place to get Japanese pressings - I got my prized - and now lost - copy of "Cheap Trick At Budokan" from there). It was very dear - about £20 - and I think it said "Mastersound" or something like that on the obi. Pressed by Toshiba or Aurex IIRC.
Certainly sounds incredible, even on my system.

Both copies are staying here . I think it does shade his next best solo album "The Final Cut"
The other time I bought two copies of an album and not regretted, on CD this time, was Sunhouse...
It would be great to see Gavin Clark sing again. I hope Ted Barnes, Shane Meadows or UNKLE can coax him out of his 'live' retirement.

Actually, come to think of it, it must have been pressed by Sony, because it was on CBS. I know my "Animals", "WYWH", "Wall" and "Collection of Great Dance Songs" are all Sonys.
Pink Floyd day for me
Great line-up and in particular Cozy who I have always admired in spite of his erratic career.

From the newly acquired 'Murray Perahia: The First Forty Years' box set. This version of 'Kreisileria' may replace my previous top choice of Horowitz on DG (The Studio Recordings) which has been a frequently played disc since its purchase in the mid '80's - we shall see.

Nothing. 552PS & Supercap off to Naim for DR upgrades. Damn quiet in here...
Tony,
You know where I live if you want to hear what they sound like before they come back. It's worth the wait my friend. You should have taken a leaf out of my book and taken a weeks holiday whilst they're away. I was only without music for 3 days!

Thanks for the invite Steve but I'm off to sunny Cumbria for ten days so the wait's not too onerous. The sound system up there's not too shabby.
So you did take a leaf out of my book. Enjoy your holiday and I hope the weather is fine for you. It will certainly make the time waiting for your kit to return pass more quickly.

Just playing the newly uploaded 25 years of ace. Love howling wolf track
Original vinyl Atlantic 1973. Great with DR!
