What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

SO MANY ROADS LIVE IN CONCERT LP (VINYL) US DELMARK 1978
This set recorded in 1975,when Otis Rush and his band went to Japan to play a couple of shows in Tokyo. This is a terrific showcase for the great Otis Rush in his prime.

On another thread, I asked about sampler discs. One recommendation was the silver disc, 25 years of ace.
Now just listening to It and there are some good tracks. I particularly like the last track, loving arms by a lady called Millie Jackson. What a lovely voice.
Not heard of her before, but she appears to have been around a Good while.
Checked her details on the web and discography says she has 49 albums.
Anyone here had previous experience of her music?
If so are there any particular albums to recommend of her music?

As a really good Early Music, the topic isn't about Savall or any performer, rather the music itself.
Very good recod. And some extras - I mean percussions - excellent for this music.
Iron Butterfly - Ball

Hi Paul. I can recommend this album by Millie. Unfortunately it looks like it is only available on vinyl, which I know is not much good to you at the moment. However the reason for the recommendation is the fact that this is live album of Millie and I am sure you will be able to find a CD of Millie in concert which IMO is the only way to hear her at a fantastic best.
Or this not live but musically it is entrancing with its earthy soul/funk groove and outstanding arrangements and Millie’s voice enchants you in a way you will never have been moved before. To use a cliché it makes the hairs on your arms and neck stand on end.
Some information on Ms J. Mildred "Millie" Jackson (born July 15, 1944) is an American R&B/soul singer-songwriter Three of her albums have been certified gold by the RIAA for over 500,000 copies. Born in Thomson, Georgia, the daughter of a sharecropper. Her mother died when she was a child and subsequently, she and her father moved to Newark, New Jersey. In 1974, she released the album Caught Up, which introduced her innovative style of raunchy rap. The featured release was her version of Luther Ingram's million-seller, "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right", for which she received two Grammy nominations.
Regards Graham.
PS I am a BIG FAN.
Bach / trio sonatas, played on two violins, cello and harpsichord / The Brook Street Band (2010)
First spin of this disc, a recommendation mentioned in Gramophone's recent Bach article. The transcriptions (? - there are indications that these works must have been written for violins and continuo) are nicely done, and the intensity and enthusiasm of these four ladies is earcatching. So, at first listen, very cool!
Cheers,
EJ

Graham I see that caught up is shown as a 2000 album and there is also a same album remastered in 2006. Have you heard this and is it better or is the original better than the re mastered?

Paul, have not heard '21'. However I am not keen on remastered CDs IMO the original will have better SQ. As I said in my OP try to find a live MJ CD it will blow you away promise.
