What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

This used to be in heavy rotation, but has been sidelined while exploring new genres and artists.  Always an enjoyable listen if you like folk/Americana.  Covers with numerous guest artists.

I've been a Bill Evans fan for many years and have had his complete Riverside recording on CD since the mid '90's . It a wonderful collection with the Scott La Faro trio tracks the highlight. I would love to get the Analogue Production set on 45 RPM but at £500 it's not going to happen!

The above disc arrived today, the Analogue Production's CD/SACD version. The intensity is sublime even breathtaking.  Without doubt, Jazz Trio playing at its finest (IMO!)

Karl

Great album - one of my regular late night listens.  Evans is probably my favourite jazz pianist.

Would be inclined to go for the Talisker though

Easily the Floyd's worst album. The lyrics are excruciating...

Franco Manca Karl? Ace pizza - although I notice they're opening new branches. I hope this will not mean a dimininution in quality.

Heard a track from this on the radio this morning and realised I hadn't played it in ages.

The Huey and the New Yorkers After Hours EP that came in the post from Naim this morning.

Five great tracks that are not on the new Say It To My Face album.

Thanks again to  Simon Drake and Simon Halliday for sending me this as a freebie.

Yes, sounds like the place.  No. 1 son lives and works in the Big Smoke and eats there, so we made a bee-line to  there from the V&A on his recommendation.  Never seen so much fresh fish in the market since my days in Leicester!

Good album but 'Talking Back To The Night' is one better imo.

On CD.

For anyone who does not know John Hiatt's music this is a good place to start IMO

Posted on: 09 November 2012 by BigH47

Stu having such good selection of song to choose makes SH's job so much easier.

I think it's a great album. I liked Watcher of the Skies - GR1 as well.

CD (1988) - Original recording remastered.

All the talk on the Beatles Remastered Vinyl thread got me going. This is a very good sounding CD.
