What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

On Vinyl.

"Love", conceived by George Martin and son Giles as a stage show soundtrack to Cirque de Soleil's Las Vegas spectacular. This album shows how original Beatles material can be remastered to an unbelievable high standard. The SQ is superb, it is better than anything in the new box imo, and

I like the box, but this album is something else!

Haim, I waited with bated breath to see who and now I know.  For some reason the original post did not reveal the attachment until I replied to it.

I guess it was for your eyes only. Who is yours?

Haim, I can't say I disagree with you about Tharaud.  There actually aren't many complete recordings but many gems, too many to mention, where someone might only record one or a couple of pieces by Ravel.  Of the younger generation, I think I equally enjoy Tharaud with the likes of Hewitt, Osborne, or Thibaudet but am always looking and open to what's available out there.  In the near future I have plans to add Bavouzet to the mix and for a new Gaspard De La Nuit I will soon be listening to the new Sudbin.

His *funky* effort from early 80s with all star cast: Carlos SantanaStanley ClarkeGary Bartz. Odd choice of the vocalist, Phyllis Hyman ruins this album.
