What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Mozart Piano Sonata No.11 K.331

Horowitz touches make this overplayed familiar tunes more fun to listen to.

Finally got to hear Maria João-Pires' Mozart Piano Concerto No.20 ( '77 recording with Jordan/Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne )

Her playing sounds like her above. Strong willed girl with a simple natural beauty.

Interesting that she chose the Beethoven's cadenza for Rondo.

I still prefer Annie Fisher's No.20 ( she's a bit more complex ) but Pires' Mozart is good. ( Earlier I was listening to Backhaus' Piano Concerto No.27 and he was putting me to sleep :/ so she was breath of fresh air )

The famous blind composer - he was the best in Spain at that time. (16c.)

Wonderful-sounding instrument; dark-deep and extremly tuneful music.
