What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Listening to the piano solo on Three to Get Ready, reminds me of my actual favorite of his which I'll play next:

Dave as a nerd on a piano.

This LP was a tie in with a Helene Rubinstein's new 'Jazz: Red Hot and Cool' Lipstick and this album was bundled with every lipstick purchase.

Love this Avedon's fashion photo but the music on this album is neither hot or cool. Just fair.

Bet i'd like this album too.

If naim audio made 'elevator music',

they would choose Larry Carlton : )

This really is a good album!  Carlton doing some straight jazz with a tight group.  I have a promo copy on vinyl.

Man, this guy understood the guitar like few do...

Would love to get this one, but it's been out of print forever; a copy on evil-bay is $135.  (I don't want it THAT badly...)

Very good record. Great SQ and music.

A strong recommendation for the recording of the four seasons by Gil Shaham and the conductorless Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. This is hands down my favorite recording of these works - clockwork precision, bold, feeling for the flow of the music, and gorgeously played.

Cheers,

EJ
