What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
Not at all familiar with these Mozart's piano sonata. First time listening to it.

This live recording of broadcast was issued on an LP at Lipatti's 20th Anniversary since his death.
The circumstance surrounding this recital is very sad as everyone knew he was not well. ( the night before the concert he had a 104° fever altho it disappeared the next day )
It's sad to hear how weak he was compared to his earier recording yet this is much more lyrical and lovely rendition than his Karajan set. Here, thoughtful Ansermet gingerly accompanies Lipatti with his rhythmic flair. In an interview years later, Ansermet described the performance as terrifying, stating that moment by moment they wondered if Lipatti would make it through the concert. He starts out really weak and even misses a few keys but sounds as if he gets a second wind on the Allegro Vivace. A remarkable precision and passionate cry. One of the best finale I have heard.
A touching applause goes on for a long time at the end of this program. i could tell that emotional level was high amongst people as everyone knew he was terminally ill.

Tooth-rattlingly sweet renditions of Schubert's Ave Maria, Gounod's Repentir and other sacred classics, orchestrated by Marin with the imagination of a piece of cheesecake. Lost cause, then? No - Studer soars above and through the fog and shows why she was considered (by some) to be the heir to history's great Strauss singers.
